Help Families Battle Cancer with these Visa® Gift Cards

When one of our team members lost his daughter to colon cancer in 2008, he founded Meredith’s Miracles, a non-profit dedicated to saving lives by raising awareness about colon cancer and providing financial assistance to young adults undergoing treatment. Meredith was diagnosed at 23 years old three weeks before her wedding and died at 25 after more than 45 rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries. “Meredith encouraged us to see the ‘little miracles’ that occurred throughout her journey. She was blessed by the way family and friends came alongside her and her husband, providing financial resources and support,” (Meredith’s Miracles).

The Meredith’s Miracles Foundation assisted 45 families last year, providing aid including transportation to and from treatment, rent, and other basic needs to young adults battling colon cancer. Because Meredith was misdiagnosed several times, the Foundation works with schools to raise awareness about the disease and symptoms in young people so that they can recognize the disease in the earlier stages.

GiftCard.com has become a proud sponsor of Meredith’s Miracles. If you’re in the Cincinnati area, check out the Fourth Annual Meredith’s Miracles Golf Classic at Legendary Run Golf Course on May 18th. Not in Cincinnati? You can join us in donating to Meredith’s Miracles at meredithsmiraclesfoundation.org. Colon cancer kills 50,000 people a year, but according to The Patriot-News, early detection can increase survival odds by 90%. “Overall, rates of colorectal cancer are decreasing, however, statistics show it’s on the rise for people under age 50.” This makes outreach programs like Meredith’s Miracles all the more important.

If you don’t have occasion to buy one of these cards now, pin it to save it for later, you never know who your purchase will help.
